InkVentory Privacy Policy

This policy covers this website: what happens to your email address if you join the waitlist, and what is counted while you are here. It is the whole of it.

Joining the waitlist

If you fill in the form, we store your email address, which of the two forms you used, and the date. We also store whether you still want updates. Nothing else — no name, no password, no account.

We use it only to email you about InkVentory: occasional updates, and word when it is available. We do not sell the list, rent it, or pass it to anyone else.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. It offers two things: stop the updates but still be told when it launches, or leave completely — which deletes your address, so you would not get the launch email either. You can also email [email protected] and we will do it by hand.

Your address is kept until you leave. Backups may persist for a short period afterwards before they age out.

Storing the list and sending those emails involves service providers who handle your address on our behalf and for no other purpose. They do not get to use it for anything of their own.

Counting visits

This site counts page views using PostHog, so we can tell whether anyone is finding it. It runs without cookies and writes nothing to your device. It also records which parts of the page get used — that the demo was started, that the link to the form was followed — so we can tell whether the page is working.

We are also recording sessions at the moment. That is a playback of this page as you used it: scrolling, taps, and what the page did in response. It is on while we work out why the page is not doing its job, and it comes off once we know. Everything you type is hidden before it leaves your browser, so the email field never reaches a recording, in any form. Nothing outside this page is recorded — no camera, no microphone, no other tab.

Your IP address does reach PostHog with each event, so that a visit can be counted as coming from a country rather than from wherever this site is hosted. That is all it is used for: no profile is built, nothing is stored on your device between visits, and there is no way to connect one visit to another or to you. Joining the waitlist is counted the same way — that an address was added, never which one. Recordings are held by PostHog for a limited period and then deleted; ask us and we will tell you exactly how long.

Ads on Facebook and Instagram

We advertise this site. When you arrive from one of those ads, the link carries a click identifier that Meta itself put there. If you then join the waitlist, we send that identifier back to Meta, so we can tell which ad was worth running.

Alongside that identifier we send the name your browser gives out — which browser and operating system you use. Those two things together are the entirety of what Meta receives from us. Your email address is never sent to Meta — not in any form, including a scrambled one — and neither is your IP address. The identifier is read from the link at the moment you submit the form, used once, and not kept. If you did not arrive from one of our ads, nothing is sent to Meta at all.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will update the date at the top.
