InkVentory Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
InkVentory is an inventory app for tattoo artists. You photograph an ink or needle cartridge, the app reads the label for you, and you keep a record of what you have in stock.
This policy explains exactly what the app collects, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. It describes what the software actually does, not what a template says it might.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, your email address, and a password. The password is stored hashed by our authentication provider — nobody at InkVentory can see it.
Photos you take. Photographs of tattoo inks, needle cartridges and their packaging, taken with the camera or chosen from your photo library. These are stored so you can see them alongside the item later.
Your inventory. Whatever ends up on an item: product name, brand, category, size, colour, needle configuration, lot number, expiry date, quantity, and any title or notes you add — whether the app read it from a label or you typed it.
Technical records. Each time the app reads a photo, we keep the result — what was identified and how confident the model was — so we can tell whether the feature is working well.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photo library beyond images you deliberately pick, or anything about how you use other apps.
The waitlist
Before the app is released, our website has a form for joining a waitlist. That is separate from having an account, and you do not need one to use it.
If you fill it in, we store your email address, whether you ticked the box offering to test the app early, which of the two forms you used, and the date. Nothing else. There is no tracker on that page.
We use it for one thing: to email you when the app is available. We do not sell the list, rent it, or pass it to anyone else.
To be taken off it, email [email protected] and we will remove you. You do not need to give a reason.
Your photos are sent to Google
When you photograph an item, that image is transmitted to Google's Gemini API so the label can be read automatically. There is no way to use the scanning feature without this happening — it is the feature.
Google processes the image to return a description of the product. Their handling of it is governed by Google's own terms for the Gemini API. If you would rather a photograph never reached Google, do not photograph it with this app.
Photos are also stored in our own storage so they can be shown next to the item. That storage is private: images are not publicly reachable, and the app fetches them using links that expire after one hour.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf and for no other purpose:
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in, the inventory database, and photo storage |
| Render | The server the app talks to |
| Google (Gemini API) | Reading the labels in your photos |
| Expo | Delivering app updates |
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind in this app — the only server the app contacts is our own.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Delete account.
That permanently removes your account, your entire inventory, and every photo you have taken. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a copy.
If you would prefer to have it done for you, or you cannot reach the app, email [email protected] and we will do it.
Data we hold is kept until you delete it. Backups may persist for a short period afterwards before they age out.
Security
Your inventory and photos are private to your account. Data travels over encrypted connections, photo storage is not publicly accessible, and access is scoped per account both in the database and on the server.
No system is perfect, and we would rather say that plainly than claim otherwise.
Children
InkVentory is a tool for professional tattoo artists and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
